The Project

The vision is to convert our 150 year old Kirk into a multi-use hub at the heart of the community offering accessible services to all.

This is a multi-year project split across four phases.

Design and Planning

Running from 2023 to 2025, this has involved establishing a SCIO to provide a constituted body with a board of Trustees. The SCIO gave us the platform to request and secure funding to allow us to develop business plans and building designs that would support applications for further funding to purchase and convert the Kirk.

Purchasing

Having finalised the business plan in March 2025, our grant funding request to the Scottish Land Fund (SLF) was successful and in December 2025 we completed the purchase of the building.

Converting

Once we own the property, we can convert into the multi-use space that has been designed by the community, for the community. The conversion will include features that make the facility easy to use and operate.

Operating

We have already started to use the Kirk for regular events that can make use of the space in its current format with pews and limited heating. Going forward, the building will be operated by BCCH.
