NEOS 2026

The Hub will be hosting three local artists from 12 - 20th September.

With our recently refurbished hall, kitchen, toilet, car parking and mobility friendly facility, we are delighted to welcome three local artists to the Hub as part of NEOS 2026.

Our monthly community cafe will also be held on 12th so come along enjoy tea, coffee and cake whilst viewing the local artistic talent and if you love what you see, you can purchase it too.

Come along and meet the artists on the days below. Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day.

NEOS (North East Open Studios) is an annual, region wide open studios event across the North East of Scotland where artists and makers across Aberdeenshire, Moray, Angus and the surrounding areas open their working studios to the public for nine days each September. Alison Thyra Ceramics

I make playful iridescent ceramics from my home studio in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

My ceramics are made using a combination of hand making techniques and digital technologies, such as 3D printing. 3D printing allows me to make tools to both make finished objects and to help me in my making process to make plaster moulds for slip casting.

Each piece is made either by slip casting or hand building and is finished and refined by hand; and the wonderful nature of making by hand is that no piece will be exactly alike.

I want to make playful ceramics that bring the user joy every time they use it. I’m inspired by iridescence, the way colour can shift in different light, and use the shapes of my work to show that beautiful iridescence in different ways. More recently I have been making illustrative work that shows my love of animals, particularly cats, and the joy they can bring us.

McCallum, Helen C

I have a delicate style of watercolour painting and attempt to capture the true image of what I see. The local landscapes, wildlife and flora throughout the seasons inspires me.

Sketches , photos and memory of what I see are transfered back to my studio for completion.

I am a self-taught hobby watercolour artist. Over the years I have exhibited in private exhibitions, local Open Exhibitions, North East Open Studios 2016, art outlets and taken commissions.
